A little about me . . . .

new profile for NAEA.jpg

I have a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) specializing in best educational practices. I am a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and hold these credentials and designations:  E-RYT 500, YACEP. I’ve been teaching yoga since 2004 and have practiced for over 30 years. I have several credentials and certifications which allow me to diversify private practices based on clients’ interests.

Whether you want a practice for building strength, flexibility, and endurance or prefer a mindful practice that combines meditation, I have the background and skills to help you find the perfect and unique practice.

You might be interested in functional yoga, or in building resilience through mindfulness, art, and yoga. You might want to explore new ways to move through your practice with Qigong-Infused Yoga™. Or you may be looking to challenge your existing practice by adding weights with YogaSculpt™ or trying new props like the Yoga Trapeze or TRX.

I love designing new practices for my clients and look forward to designing a practice specifically for your needs and interests!

Why women’s midlife wellness? Full disclosure, as you can see from my photo, I am beyond midlife and, in fact, 65 years old – I guess I’m a “senior!” I know from my own experience and from working with colleagues in public schools and with teachers through the pandemic that women in midlife have many stressors: full-time careers and full-time motherhood, taking care of kids and elders at the same time, jobs that can be demanding, work environments that can be toxic, injuries, surgeries, complicated relationships . . . I understand and have been there! I see you! I can share the benefits of mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and creativity. I continue to teach student art teachers and offer professional development to teachers in MA and CT.

I have been an art teacher for over 20 years, and my current research passion is the connections between neuroscience, the arts, yoga, and meditation. I have a wealth of resources I would love to share with you!

Testimonials

I have been practicing with Julie for about 3 years now. When I started I could barely do one chaturanga correctly and now I find myself doing 16-20 per practice, due to her teaching style. My strength and stamina have improved immensely, and my focus on the mat has transported into my daily workload as well. I have gained confidence in myself both physically and mentally to push myself through any challenges that come my way. I highly recommend private sessions with Julie.  ~ Michelle

I was hesitant to try a private session with Julie at first, since my first choice for workouts was lifting weights, and most of the yoga classes I had taken were not vigorous enough. With my partner’s encouragement, I tried a session and have been hooked ever since.  Julie gives you a great workout (if that’s what you are looking for), you work up a sweat, and you stretch well. I haven't had backaches for years. I recommend you try a private session with Julie, it will change your life. ~ Lynn
